He leaves the infirmary in short order, but lurks outside the door so he can walk with Mick when he leaves, heading over to his partner as soon as he sees him.
"Thought we didn't do talking." Mick sighs. He knows Len can be stubborn as fuck but he hopes this is enough to call him of the hunt. He sets a course straight for the pub.
Mick stops and looks straight at Len. "He got me out of a dungeon for some crazy Christmas monster." And before that, he had actually listened to Mick, at least made it seem like he had considered what Mick thought should change. That had made Mick willing to try out this group thing.
He opens his mouth to ask an explanation for THAT nonsense, pauses, and puts it on hold for now.
"That doesn't give him an all-exclusive pass to your brain, Mick." He says, warningly. "McDowell plays mind games. You don't want to go mixing it up with him."
Mick raises an eyebrow at that. "I am not giving him a pass to my brain. There is one person who gets that and that is only so he can make sure nobody else is messing around in there. There are more people than him there."
"Alec has actually bothered to listen when I talk. He bothers to ask what I want or need. Maybe it is all an act to get in my head but it is a hell of a lot more than most people on this boat. We don't have a professional and besides, I thought you didn't like shrinks."
"Go home and never see you again. Is that what you want?" Did Len really just say that? Len asking him to leave. After asking him to give him up.
"I didn't call you because I didn't have the communicator, you idiot. How often are you in prisons that let you have a phone? Alec actually noticed I was gone instead of frolicking around in the snow."

"Talk."

"What are you saying in there?"
no subject
He glances over at Len. "Just talking about stuff that has happened."
no subject
"With McDowell. You think he really understands anything?"
no subject
no subject
"He's got nothing over your head, understand?"

"What have you been saying about me?"
no subject
"I haven't said anything about you. I haven't really said anything. Talked a bit about jail, the time masters and shit like that. Not about you."
no subject
"If you need to talk to someone, it can be someone besides McDowell. An actual professional, for one."

"Then maybe you should go home, where there are professionals. And what's this crap about him saving you? Why didn't you call me?"

He moves to get up from the seat he had been in.

"I didn't know you needed a babysitter. And if you had left, like I said, you wouldn't be getting kidnapped."

"Fine, I'll pack my bags." His voice is even, quiet. And then he moves towards the door.

After a minute or two, he gets up to go get a beer.
This is how it's supposed to be. If it gets Mick to go home, instead of hanging around the Barge...
He didn't want this to be the way they said goodbye.
