Hey kid. [Mick's voice loses a lot of its normal growl, and instead he tries to go for soothing]

Yeah I am, haven't talked to him about it yet. What can I do for you?

[He almost falters and loses it completely and hangs up, but pushes on:]

Please ask the Admiral to give him his magic back. Not enough so he can hurt people, just - enough so he can fix things? So he can change himself? Please. I know it's not my place, but, I'm his friend, and -- it's making him so unhappy. He's never going to get better.

Steve should maybe have given himself time to cool down after hearing that Mick had been the one to set the fire that Lark died in, but that's not really Steve's way. What he does is find himself in front of Mick's door, knocking insistently, and waiting for the guy to open up.

This isn't the first time that he has dealt with Mick and a fire. Maybe he should have put two and two together from the start. But right now, he needs to talk to the guy, because something is wrong - something is wrong with this whole damn boat, if wardens can just do this kind of thing.

It takes quite a while for Mick to answer the door, but when he does open it. There is a makeshift bandage around his neck but apart from that, he doesn't really look worse for wear. He folds his arms when he sees who it is, leaning on the door and blocking the way in.

"Can I help you?"

That's fine - Steve really doesn't want to come in, and at least the door doesn't get slammed in his face right off the bat. He shifts his weight, body posture going tense, and says, "Yeah. You can explain what the hell you thought you were doing in the library."

Part of him means setting the fire. But part of him means, leaving an inmate to die in it.

[Shortly after this]

He leaves the infirmary in short order, but lurks outside the door so he can walk with Mick when he leaves, heading over to his partner as soon as he sees him.

"Talk."

[hottestrogue]

"Thought we didn't do talking." Mick sighs. He knows Len can be stubborn as fuck but he hopes this is enough to call him of the hunt. He sets a course straight for the pub.

[chillestrogue]

"You look like you were doing plenty of talking in there." He points out, and follows him along to the pub.

I wasn't thinking about consequences. I wasn't thinking at all. I was angry and stupid, and I didn't want to be talked out of my angry stupidity. I'm sure you know what that's like.

I'll understand if you don't want to talk to me again. I wouldn't want to talk to me again, either - but I had to say something.

I don't care, Frost. Yeah, you killed me. You're not the first and you're not going to be the last one here either. What's worse if you ask me is that you went after other people. You hate me, and for good reason. I know that. Next time you're feeling like that come find me, and we'll do it all again.
